Garden Greens is a pick ’n’ mix bunch of musician-friends, that is more than the sum of its parts. Robin, Felix, Simon & Tom bonded over their love for music, their brusque sense of humor, and the shared experiences of their provincial upbringing. Their art paints an unpolished picture of longing and belonging, of kinship and estrangement.

Music, if you grow up surrounded by the solitude of rural Westphalia, is to defraud your daily ruts of some sense of commotion, to break the spell of self-imposed silence, to vent some of that pent-up Fernweh.

Garden Greens’ first extended play “Sunset Rise” is both a love letter to the greats and an authentic stylistic expression in its own right. Raspy vocals, riffy guitars, mellow keys, busy basslines, and thuddy drums refuse to cater to any single genre, yet are unable to disclaim the musical influences of their benefactors. The result is, at times, jazzy, at times heavy, but always a heartfelt testament to their roots.
